21)What is Periodontitis?

Periodontal disease is one of the two major diseases in dentistry along with tooth decay. Both of these have a high morbidity rate, which is said to be a national disease, and even if we look at the causes of tooth loss by the people, the rates are almost the same, and both are over 90%.

In periodontal disease, plaque (plaque) and tartar are attached to the surface of the tooth, and bacteria on the surface and inside propagate, causing inflammation and invading the toothpaste and bone (alveolar bone) that support the tooth. It is a disease.
Many adults have periodontal disease. In the middle-aged and older generation, it is the number one cause of tooth loss.

Causes of periodontal disease
Periodontal disease is caused by bacteria contained in plaque and tartar in the oral cavity. Therefore, it is a breeding ground for bacteria. It is important not to increase plaque and tartar in the oral cavity.
Daily tooth brushing at the patient's home, regular examinations at the dentist's office, tartar removal (scaling), By performing full-scale cleaning (PMTC), you can maintain a healthy oral environment that is less likely to cause periodontal disease. It is also important to maintain your body's resistance to bacteria.
